Regional Digest: UC Davis rallies for baseball win

The UC Davis baseball team ended host Oklahoma State's seven-game winning streak Sunday, rallying for two runs in the ninth inning for a 4-3 victory, UCD reported.

Mike Mazzara led off the Aggies' ninth with a single and went to third on Austin Logan's one-out double. Steven Patterson's groundout scored Mazzara, and Spencer Brann doubled down the right-field line with two outs to drive in Logan.

UCD (6-6) won the finale of the three-game series and dropped the Cowboys to 9-2.

• Host Sacramento State won for the fourth time in five games, defeating Utah Valley 10-3, according to the Sac State athletics website.

Rhys Hoskins (Jesuit High School) hit a solo homer and a run-scoring double, and Will Soto had three RBIs for the Hornets (6-5).

The Wolverines (5-7) walked Soto twice with the bases loaded and hit David Del Grande with a pitch with the bases full.

Sac State comes back in softball

The Sac State softball team scored three times in the seventh inning to beat host Santa Clara 4-3, Sac State reported.

With one out in the Hornets' seventh, Yesenia Alcala and Emily McCormick singled, and with two outs, Paige Martin's RBI single cut the deficit to 3-2. Kayla Papez then singled in two runs.

Sac State (8-5) completed a three-game sweep and has beaten the Broncos (2-12) 24 consecutive times.
