Re "Medi-Cal demand set to soar" (California Focus, March 3): Did you know that there are many retired physicians in California who would like to help give care to the under-served?
Did you know that many of these physicians have tried to work for the annual free health care programs that come to the convention center or Cal Expo annually?
But in order to do that they need to be covered by malpractice insurance, even though their time is donated and they do not bill for their services. California is one of only seven states in the United States that has not provided some kind of malpractice coverage for volunteer physicians and other health care providers.

• Don't repeat the same comment over and over. We heard you the first time.
• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.
