The Sacramento State baseball team was already on a roll before it visited UC Davis on Tuesday.
The Hornets continued their momentum with a 14-0 nonconference victory over the Aggies, Sac State reported.
The Hornets (7-5) won for the fifth time in six games, posted their second shutout in four games and totaled 20 hits, their most since recording 22 against Albany (N.Y.) on March 31, 2010.
Will Soto (Elk Grove High School) and Andrew Ayers each had three hits and two RBIs. Nathan Lukes (Center High) homered and singled and had three RBIs. Scotty Burcham also had three hits. Justin Higley (Jesuit High) had two hits and two RBIs. Jason Hampton (Rocklin High) also had two RBIs.
Hunter Greenwood (Franklin High) threw five one-hit innings for his first win this season.
The Aggies (6-6) gave up six runs in the third inning and five in the ninth.
Softball
Because of weather concerns, today's scheduled nonconference game between UC Davis and visiting Stanford has been postponed until May 1, UCD reported.
