Continuing a months-long trend, Sacramento and California saw year-over-year gains in job vacancies advertised online in February, according to the latest statistics released by the Conference Board.

However, month-to-month totals declined in Sacramento, the state and the nation.

The board said 28,800 ads were posted in Sacramento last month, up from 25,600 in February 2012 but down from 29,000 in January this year.

Sacramento dropped from second to third nationwide in the number of unemployed people per advertised job vacancy, with a 3.6-to-1 ratio. That trails only Riverside's 6.83-to-1 and Las Vegas' 3.86-to-1 figures. The national rate is 2.42-to-1.

Statewide, there were 572,800 ads in February, down from 577,900 in January but up from 521,000 in February 2012.

Nationally, the board said ads dipped 44,400 from January to February, to 5,056,700.
