A committee wants input on draft recommendations about how to address the disproportionate number of African-American youth who die in Sacramento County.
The committee put together by county Supervisor Phil Serna will hold public meetings on April 1, 2 and 4 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
All three meetings will take place in Sacramento. On the 1st, it will be held at the Greater Sacramento Urban League, 3725 Marysville Blvd. On the 2nd, at Paratransit, Inc., 2501 Florin Road. And on the 4th, at St. Paul Baptist Church, 2996 14th Ave.
Each year, African-American children die at twice the rate of white children, according to a report by the Sacramento County Child Death Review team.
The committee expects to present its plan and recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on May 7, with the hope of attracting funding during countywide budget negotiations the following month.
