Rocklin-based dessert bakery chain Icing on the Cupcake plans to open a sixth Sacramento-area store in Granite Bay in the late spring.
The new outlet will be in Granite Bay's Renaissance Creek center at 3980 Douglas Blvd. Also, the Citrus Heights store at 5867 Sunrise Blvd. will celebrate grand-opening festivities Friday and Saturday.
The company also said the Citrus Heights and Granite Bay stores will spearhead a new business concept shift beyond specialty cupcakes, to all types of personal gourmet desserts, including specialized icings, cheesecakes, cookies and individual-size pies.
