Fishtank Ensemble

Music like you've never heard

What: Tired of the predictable? Try on Fishtank Ensemble, billed as a serendipitous reunion of gifted and misfit musicians. Theirs is an amalgam of world, pop, rock, flamenco, folk, jazz, rockabilly, tango, Indian, groove and unendingly energetic Gypsy music.

What: Where one comedy show leaves off, the next will begin. Such is the nature of a 48-hour marathon of improv, sketches, podcasts, stand-up and variety acts.

March of the Irish

What: Old Sacramento? How about O'Sacramento? The historic district goes a wee bit Celtic crazy at the 17th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade – one of the largest in Northern California. Irish dancers, pipers, drummers and others march in a green-clad, family-friendly celebration o'er the cobblestones.

When: 1 p.m. Saturday

Einstein + pi = family fun

What: The Discovery Museum combines celebrations for Pi Day and Einstein's birthday (his 140th) with a family fun weekend. Activities will entertain as well as educate, and take-home packets will continue the fun at home.

When: 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Where: Discovery Museum Science & Space Center, 3615 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento

Golden season

American music for Camellia Symphony

What: Bringing a close to its 50th anniversary season, the Camellia Symphony Orchestra will present "American Masters: A Celebration." This is a chance to hear Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F featuring local pianist Natsuki Fukasawa, Bernstein's "Candide Overture" and Ives' Symphony No. 2 with new additions to the score.

When: 8 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday

Puck and pandemonium

Shakespeare's 'Midsummer' as ballet

What: Expect clever bits as dancers present the interlocking antics of a forestful of characters in Ron Cunningham's take on the bard's beloved comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Rounding out the evening is Balanchine's "Western Symphony."

When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday through March 23 and 2 p.m. March 24.
