Re "Arena talks on fast track" (Page A1, March 13) and "Council OKs a step toward buying soccer stadium land" (Our Region, March 14): Here we go again. America is a victim of our skewed priorities. We are fine with closing schools. We cut teacher pay and increase class sizes. We are even privatizing schools so soon only the wealthy will be able to access quality education.
Now, we want to build a sports arena in downtown Sacramento and there's also talk of a pro soccer stadium just down the road in Elk Grove. Really?
We rank 27th out of 34 countries in math and science. Am I the only one this bothers? We are already having to sending abroad for talented professionals and getting worse. Our kids deserve better, but they can't vote so it's up to us.
