A private-public partnership that helps the homeless announced the renewal of $14 million in federal money for homeless programs in the Sacramento area.
Sacramento Steps Forward executive director Ben Burton learned the results of the organization's application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that renewed support for 27 homeless housing and service programs in the City of Sacramento and Sacramento County.
"We are pleased to be awarded this funding to continue to maintain current services in Sacramento," said Burton. "This year's application was more competitive."
The $14.4 million in grants support a variety of programs, including permanent housing for people with disabilities, transitional programs that help move people to self-sufficiency and counseling.
