A pedestrian walking on a Placer County road near Lincoln was struck and killed by a car.
Candido Perez Jr., 33, of Roseville was walking in the southbound lane of Industrial Avenue near Athens Avenue about 10:15 p.m. Thursday when he was hit by a car traveling about 55 mph.
The driver swerved in an attempt to avoid Perez, who was walking with his back to traffic. Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol said it is not known why Perez was walking in the roadway.
