Rayn House tossed a three-hit shutout to lead Texas State over Sacramento State 1-0 in the first round of the Capital Classic Softball Tournament on Friday at Shea Stadium, Sac State reported.
Haley Lemons homered in the fourth inning for Texas State (5-19).
The Hornets (12-7) will play Saint Mary's today at 1 p.m. and Fresno State at 3 p.m. Kansas will face Texas State at 9 a.m., and Fresno State will meet Texas State at 11 a.m.

Chaffey in basketball final
Sango Niang hit a jumper in the lane with 3.2 seconds remaining to give Chaffey College an 87-85 victory over City College of San Francisco, ranked No. 1 in the state, in the semifinals of the California community college men's basketball tournament at Cosumnes River College.
CCSF All-American Delon Wright narrowly missed a three-point attempt from the top of the key at the buzzer.
Chaffey will play for its first state title on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Mount San Antonio.
Austin Pettibone of host UC Santa Barbara (10-7) threw a four-hit shutout in a 5-0 baseball victory over Sac State (10-7), Sac State's reported. The Hornets' Justin Higley extended his hitting streak to eight games with a double.
Harry Stanwyck pitched seven solid innings as the visiting UC Davis baseball team beat Seattle 7-4 in the opener, and Kevin Barker and Seth Batty each had two hits in a 10-9 loss in the nightcap, according to UCD's athletics website. The Aggies are 8-11, and Seattle is 7-12.
Katie Yamamura tied her school all-around record of 39.325 while junior Anna Shumaker hit the 39-point barrier for a second straight week as the host UC Davis women's gymnastics team scored 195.625 points to beat Sac State (194.875) and Air Force (193.400), according to UCD's athletics website.
