Daffodil Hill
Spend the day at Daffodil Hill in Amador County where you can get a breath of fresh air and take in the beautiful daffodil blooms.
The hill, filled with thousands of different blooms, is now open (weather permitting) through mid-April. Admission and parking are free. No pets are allowed.

SACRAMENTO
Free boating classes
Brush up on your boating skills. The Sacramento Power Squadron is offering safe boating classes that are open to the public. They begin Monday and will be held every Monday for six weeks.
Classes run 7 to 9 p.m. at Century 21 Select Training Center, 7919 Pebble Beach Drive, Suite 206 in Citrus Heights. The course is free, but materials cost $50.

MOUNT DIABLO
New hiking trail map
Take your hiking to the next level with the new Mount Diablo State Park trail map.
The Mount Diablo Interpretive Association recently published a new trail map, which includes information about popular hikes and visiting areas.
The color map can be purchased for $6 at entrances and visitor centers on Mount Diablo.

'49er Treasure Trail games
Pan for gold, push yourself on a railway handcar and compete in the American Indian game of staves.
Those will be some of the activities offered at the '49er Treasure Trail, Amador County's "adventure game," which runs Friday and Saturday in various locations across the county.
Winners will receive meals, gift certificates and other goodies. The games are open to people of all ages. Cost is $15 per person. Those 16 years and younger play for free. Register at touramador.com
SOLANO COUNTY
Wildflower Railway Tours
Enjoy a scenic wildflower tour while riding a vintage electric train on the old Sacramento Northern Railway.
The 10-mile ride takes you along hillsides and fields filled with "poppies, goldfields, brass buttons, vetch and sheep sorrel," according to organizers.
The train rides are sponsored by the Western Railway Museum and run Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from April 3 to 28.
The museum is located at 5848 Highway 12 at Rio Vista Junction. Fares are $10 general, $9 for seniors 65 years and older and $7 for children (ages 2-14). Trains depart at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. For more information, call (707) 374-2978 or visit wrm.org
