Today's weather is expected to be mostly sunny, but the forecast changes to rain Tuesday night.
The warm and dry weather of the weekend continues today with the high temperature in Sacramento expected to be in the low 70s. Then, Tuesday night, a moderate rainstorm moves into Northern California.
The National Weather Service is calling for rain and wind up to about 10 mph Tuesday night - with showers continuing into Wednesday.
In total, rainfall in the Sacramento region should amount to a quarter to a half inch of precipitation. A half inch to an inch of rain could be recorded in the foothills.
In the Sierra Nevada, the oncoming storm is forecast to bring four to eight inches of snow, mainly above the 6,500-feet elevation level.
