Sacramento-area gas prices have fallen below the $4-a-gallon threshold ... at least for now.
The average price of gasoline in the Sacramento area fell 4.3 cents to $3.97 a gallon, according to national gas price tracker GasBuddy.com's weekly report, released today.
It was the third week in a row that prices declined.
The area's average price is now about a penny higher than one month ago, but 28.4 cents lower than at this time last year, when prices soared to above $4.20 a gallon amid refinery disruptions.
Nationally, GasBuddy said the average price of gas fell 1.9 cents over the past week to $3.65 a gallon - down 4.1 cents from a month ago and 15 cents lower than last year.
"While the national average hasn't seen much movement, some areas of the country have seen volatility continue ... ," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.
