Re "Feinstein's weapon ban cut from bill" (Page A4, March 20): Congress has decided not to pass a ban on assault weapons. What a shame! However, as a fellow Democrat, I believe that Congress should settle on a simple compromise -- a law that requires a gun owner to have a license.
It is required to have a license to drive a car, but not a gun? I could easily argue that guns are more dangerous than cars, yet we don't require an education or license or use one, let alone own one. This is a simple compromise that is the bare minimum of what is needed to prevent gun violence and accidents. Please America, use some common sense and realize that guns are not a toy, but a dangerous machine that can kill people with a mere slip of the finger.
