The Bee's Jeff Caraska shares five lessons from last week.

Five lessons

• Pleasant Grove's Matt Smrekar and Marquese Chriss demonstrate how to shut down the drive-thru lane against McDonald's All-American Marcus Lee of Antioch's Deer Valley.

• A popular school of thought is the deeper a team ventures into a playoff run, the deeper the disappointment when that run ends with a loss – unless you're talking about a young, talented Capital Christian boys team.

• The 10th-seeded Oak Ridge girls had victories against Nos. 2, 3 and 7 seeds, but No. 12 Berkeley wasn't paying attention.

• When using the words "real deal," keep Aaron Gordon of San Jose's Archbishop Mitty in mind.

• Sheldon's Dakarai Allen and D'Erryl Williams didn't get a state title as part of their legacy, but it still looks pretty good.
