Sacramento area winds to ease into a warm weekend

The winds are blowing today, but look for breezes to subside tonight, leading to a warm weekend.

Sustained wind readings in the Sacramento Valley were in teens this morning. The northerly winds, which could top out at 26 mph in Sacramento, are expected to keep today's high temperature below 70 degrees.

With winds winding down tonight, the weekend weather will warm. The high in Sacramento is expected to be 73 on Saturday and 75 on Sunday, both readings well above normal for early spring. The normal daytime high: 67 degrees.

The detailed, 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service for the Sacramento region:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 69. North northwest wind 17 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 41. North northwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 9 to 14 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 73. North northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 75. Northwest wind 3 to 8 mph.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 46.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 71.

Tuesday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70.

Wednesday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48.

Thursday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70.
