Sacramento will bask in warmer-than-normal temperatures today, but rain showers are likely to return by mid-week.
Forecasters expect valley temperatures to rise to 75 degrees this afternoon, while the normal for the day typically hovers around 68 degrees, said Stefanie Henry, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sacramento.
Monday's weather will cool slightly to the lower 70s, with some high clouds and sun, she said. The rest of the week will follow more normal temperature patterns for late March, in the upper 60s and low 70s.
By Tuesday evening, the first of a series of small systems may bring scattered rain through Friday.
"These are isolated, weak systems coming through, although there could be more activity in the north part of the valley or in the mountains," Henry said. "There's a chance of light showers in the valley, but everything coming through will be weak."
Trailing behind those small systems will be a slightly stronger pressure ridge that could bring rain by next Saturday evening or Sunday morning, unless the disturbance drops to the south and misses the valley.
The Sacramento 7-day forecast is as follows:
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72.
