Regional Digest: UCD rallies to beat Stanford on diamond

Nick Lynch lined a two-out RBI single to right field to cap a two-run ninth inning in UC Davis' 2-1 baseball victory over visiting Stanford on Tuesday, according to the UCD website.

John Williams started the ninth with a triple to right. Stanford's Garrett Hughes retired the next two hitters but then delivered a wild pitch that scored Williams to make it 1-1. Paul Politi followed with a single and Steven Patterson walked, setting up Lynch's heroics.

The Aggies improved to 10-12, while the Cardinal fell to 11-8.

• Fresno State (4-17) scored an unearned run in the ninth inning to beat Sacramento State (13-11) 3-2 at Raley Field, according to the Hornets' website.


Sac State senior golfer Ryan Williams finished third, three shots behind the winner, at the Anteater Invitational in Laguna Niguel, and the Hornets finished fifth, according to the school's website.

• UCD sophomore Blair Lewis fired a 1-under-par 71 in the second round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic golf tournament in Lahaina, Hawaii, and the Aggies are in ninth place entering today's final round, the school reported.

• Sac State freshman Jennifer Nguyen was named the Big Sky Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, according to the Hornets' website.

Sac State sophomore Tom Miller was named the conference's Men's Player of the Week.

• The Hornets' women's tennis team (7-9) lost to host UC Irvine (16-3) 4-0, according to the school.
