Pleasant Grove (28-6) won the Northern California Regional D-I title, taking down powerhouse Bay Area programs De La Salle of Concord in the semifinals and Deer Valley of Antioch in the final.

The Eagles then made history by becoming the first boys team in section history to win a D-I state title, defeating Santa Monica for Northern California's lone boys champion out of six divisions.

"We're here because of the coach and because we're a team," senior forward Matt Smrekar said.
