Sacramento's new beer hall LowBrau will host a fundraiser Saturday night to contribute to a reward fund for information in the case of Josiah Humphreys, the 28-year-old man fatally beaten in midtown earlier this month.
Early in the morning March 17, Humphreys was beaten at 18th and P streets by three men who have not yet been identified by Sacramento police.
His family and friends started a reward fund for information that leads to arrests in the case and have raised almost $5,000, said Humphreys' sister Veronica.
The fundraiser will begin at 7 p.m. at LowBrau, 1050 20th St., and last until closing time.
Several businesses and restaurants in town have donated items for a raffle that will benefit the fund, and several others are sponsoring the event, said Tom Goode, a friend of Humphreys.
LowBrau's general manager, Pat Ramos, went to Jesuit High School with Humphreys and Goode. In addition to hosting the fundraiser, he said LowBrau has agreed to donate $1 for every draft beer sold that night to the fund.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Sacramento police at (916) 264-5471 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP.
