Re "Council backs arena term sheet" (Page A1, March 27): The bid to keep the Kings in Sacramento is nothing more than a scam. First, scam artists Maloofs sell the Kings to Seattle for a profit.
Next, Mayor Kevin Johnson responds offers lucrative deals to billionaires who create opposition. Then, NBA's David Stern says, Sorry, Sacramento must cough up more money, so Johnson offers more city assets to billionaires who are too smart to turn down free real estate.
The winners in this scam are all NBA owners who see the value of their teams go up in this phony market bubble. The losers are Kings fans who also support the Crocker Art Museum, parks, swimming pools, lower taxes, the general fund, and, especially, responsible city development.
