Re "Bush deserves praise for Iraq" (Letters March 30) Regarding Joseph Morreale's letter, I don't mean disrespect, but our involvement in the Iraq war does not deserve praise. We lost between 4,500 to 5,000 American lives for what? So one religious faction could come into power at the determent of another?
I keep asking myself when will Americans wake up to the fact the Middle East does not want our style of democracy, our style of freedoms, or us in their countries. The Middle East is always going to be in turmoil because of its religious groups. Americans can't change that.
Any American life lost on Middle Eastern soil is a waste. I am not a liberal. But I am also not a conservative. I am an American who is tired of us losing lives to wars supporting people that don't appreciate it.
