Re "Funds advance to battle backlog" (Capitol & California, March 19): The Bee and KCRA 3's recent stories on two-month backlog at Secretary of State Debra Bowen's office also deserve an "attaboy." When my wife could not get her incorporation filings processed by the Secretary of State, she was really frustrated. No approval, no business bank account, no way to handle her finances.
I couldn't believe there was a two month-backlog. In an effort to resolve the matter, I called the office and found the backlog existed, but for $350, the application would move to the head of the line. "Extortion" my wife said.
I called the Bee and Channel 3 which researched the situation and ran stories in early March. Then the Legislature threw money at the problem and Linda's application was finally approved. So "attaboy."
