A's 2013: Projected lineup, rotationLoading
    Josh Reddick
    Right field

OK, the whole furry look might play out, but Josh Reddick can flat mash. The more clutch homers he hits, the better he looks.

    Brandon Moss
    First base

Twenty-one homers, 52 RBIs in 84 games. Project that out, and Brandon Moss looks like another basher playing a position where bashing is quite acceptable.

    Chris Young
    Designated hitter

Chris Young's 2012 numbers in Arizona were disappointing compared to what his potential is, but he was a savvy pick-up and could be part of a decent one-two DH punch.

    Derek Norris

Derek Norris had an absolutely sick spring, mashing like it's cool and getting a leg up in the competition for playing time in the squat.

    John Jaso

Acquired from Seattle, John Jaso has credibility. He drove in 50 runs in just 108 games, and he had a fat OBP, which the A's cherish above almost all things. Oakland looks solid behind the plate.

    2013 A's: Starting pitching rotation
    Brett Anderson

Before he got hurt early last season, Brett Anderson was dealing. If he deals again this year without the hurting, he could be the staff leader.
    José Luis Villegas | jvillegas@sacbee.com
    Jarrod Parker

Statistically, Jarrod Parker did it the way teams like to see their pitchers do it in 2012. 2-to-1 strikeouts to walks, nice ERA, decent whip. Best yet, he was dependable. And young.

    Tommy Milone

The good for Tommy Milone? 13-10 record, sub-4.00 ERA and just 36 walks in 190 innings. Allowed a few too many homers, but he's another promising, young pitcher in a rotation characterized by promising, young pitchers.

    Bartolo Colon

OK, Bartolo Colon has career-long credibility based on plenty of victories, a Cy Young Award and an overall All-Star resume. Unfortunately, he used performance-enhancing drugs last season, which scrubs off some of the gloss. Practically speaking, though, if he's clean this year, and his most recent success wasn't all based on pharmaceutical enhancement, he could be the veteran who helps the youngsters get it done.
