Kudos to: Anjalee Golden, fifth-grader at Twelve Bridges Elementary School in Lincoln

Accomplishment: Won the American history poster contest sponsored by the Sons of the American Revolution, Gold Country Chapter

Details: Golden's detailed poster focused on the topic of this year's contest: the Declaration of Independence. A total of 531 posters were submitted to judges. Her poster moves on to statewide judging.

Kudos to: Earl Warren Elementary School students

Accomplishment: Raised $2,646.15 for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Pennies for Patients drive

Details: In addition to collecting spare change from home, students at the Sacramento City Unified school participated in other events to raise money for the drive, including paying $1 each for a piece of tape to firmly secure Principal Carolyn Olsen to a chair at lunchtime.

Kudos to: West Campus High School moot court team

Accomplishment: Placed first at the Gordon D. Schaber county moot court competition

Details: The team triumphed over nearly two dozen other schools, according to a Sacramento Unified newsletter. The students argued a case before judges who evaluated participants on quality and persuasiveness of legal reasoning and presentation. Students also fielded questions from judges.
