Sunrise Mall was evacuated Saturday afternoon, and a bomb squad was called in, after a suitcase was found unattended in one of the walkways, Citrus Heights police said.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department's explosive ordnance disposal unit determined that the suitcase was empty.
A 15-year-old girl claimed ownership of the luggage, Citrus Heights police reports said. Officers said the girl placed the suitcase in the walkway with intent to cause fear. She was arrested.
