The Foresthill Bridge will be closed this work week during a big portion of each day for seismic retrofit work.
The bridge outside Auburn will be closed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day so that a contractor working on the seismic retrofit can place a crane on the north deck.
The retrofit and re-painting project is a $60 million project designed to make the span over the North Fork of American River more safe in event of an earthquake.
Road barricades will be in place at the intersections of Foresthill Road and Lincoln Way and at Foresthill Road and Old Auburn Foresthill Road.
During the bridge closure hours, the detour from Auburn will be Lincoln Way to Highway 49 to Old Auburn Foresthill Road. The detour from Foresthill will be the reverse, according to a Placer County press release.
The California Highway Patrol will have patrol cars and officers stationed at either end of the detour.
