Sacramento-area gas prices barely budged last week.
The average price of gasoline in the area rose only 0.7 cents to $3.90 a gallon, according to national gas price tracker GasBuddy.com's weekly report, released today.
The slight uptick broke a string of four consecutive weeks of gas price declines.
The area's average price is 17.4 cents lower than one month ago and 31.7 cents lower than at this time last year.
Nationally, GasBuddy said the average price of gas fell 1.9 cents over the past week to $3.61 a gallon - down 10.3 cents from a month ago and 28.1 cents lower than last year.
"Gas prices in March came in like a lion and are going out like a lamb," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy. "For the first time in a decade gasoline prices are going to be lower at the end of March than the beginning.
" ... Essentially what we're seeing ... is perhaps the largest monthly decrease ever during the month of March - a month that has almost always seen prices finishing the month substantially higher than where they entered."
