Davis' Laney Teaford, Ellie Eaton, Han-ah Sumner and Sophie Meads combined to win the girls' distance medley relay in 12 minutes, 21.01 seconds at last Saturday's Stanford Invitational.

The time also topped the Blue Devils' school record by 15 seconds.

Teaford, Sumner and Meads joined Rose Stephens to give the Blue Devils a third-place finish in the 4x400 relay in 3:59.93, while Teaford, Sumner and Meads joined Jeanne-Marie McPherson to finish fourth in the 4x800 in a school-record 4:30.16.

Sheldon's Truesdale wins milestone game

When Sheldon played Christian Brothers on March 5, veteran Huskies softball coach Mary Jo Truesdale didn't say a word to her players that she was going for her 600th victory.

"We have a really young team, and I didn't want to put that pressure on them, especially against a team like Christian Brothers and with a pitcher like Haley Snyder," Truesdale said.

Behind Anessa Kaylor's home run and double, Sheldon beat the Falcons 3-2 in eight innings.

It wasn't until the next day that Truesdale told her players about the milestone win, "and they got pretty excited about it."

Truesdale said she only was aware of her win total because of her induction into the Sac-Joaquin Section Hall of Fame last year.

Section officials asked her to put together a biography and list of accomplishments for the induction program.

From 1991 to 1996, Truesdale coached at Elk Grove, and the past 15 at Sheldon, where she has won five section titles.
