The Westin Sacramento hotel officially opened Thursday in the riverfront spot formerly held by Le Rivage Hotel.
The Westin chain has managed a $3.2 million renovation at 4350 Riverside Blvd. Owned by the Southern California real estate partnership of Urban Commons/Brighton Management, the 100-room hotel is Sacramento's first Westin.
The partnership bought the hotel for $16 million in December and quickly announced that it had made a deal with Westin.
"We are thrilled to debut the Westin brand in the scenic city of Sacramento," said Brian Povinelli, global brand leader for Westin Hotels & Resorts.
The hotel features 7,000 square feet of meeting space, a restaurant, outdoor pool, spa and a fitness studio.
Le Rivage opened in 2008, but struggled as the hospitality industry and businesses cut back on travel during the recession.
