The California Highway Patrol said a fatal collision occurred on the Capital City Freeway near Arden Way during Thursday's commute.
The motorist was apparently traveling eastbound on the Capital City Freeway about 7 a.m. on wet roadway. The vehicle in which the motorist died ended up near the westbound side in the center divide.
The motorist's vehicle hit a tree in the center divide, backing traffic up in the commute on the westbound side of the freeway.
