Game highlights: Travis d'Arnaud, the Pacific Coast League's fourth-rated prospect, reached base four times on two doubles and two walks. He scored each time, and Andrew Brown added a two-run double and two sacrifice flies as the Las Vegas 51s spoiled the managerial debut of Steve Scarsone and defeated the River Cats 10-5 Thursday.
Something to remember: David Freitas, who played at Elk Grove High School and Cosumnes River College, singled in the seventh inning and doubled in the ninth inning in his Triple-A debut.
Same name/different team: This year's 51s team is affiliated with the New York Mets. The 51s were affiliated with Toronto last year.
They're back: 51s shortstop Brandon Hicks and catcher Landon Powell have played for the River Cats. Hicks played last year and Powell in 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011. Neither played Thursday.
Today: River Cats RHP Jesse Chavez (0-0, 0.00) vs. Las Vegas RHP Chris Schwinden (0-0, 0.00), 7:05 p.m., Raley Field.
