Kari Lehtonen posted 27 saves to help the Dallas Stars take a 3-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.
Alex Chiasson, Eric Nystrom and Lane MacDermid all scored for the Stars, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
"We got a little lucky at the other end and I got a little lucky with a couple of pucks that hit the posts," said Lehtonen. "But that's how things go sometimes. We played well tonight."
Andrew Cogliano scored the only goal of the game for the Ducks, who had won three of four coming in. Viktor Fasth stopped 22 shots in the loss.
"In the first period we were running all over the place," said Anaheim head coach Bruce Boudreau. "I give Dallas' defense credit because they blocked a lot of shots. We tried to come back, but the damage was done."
All the goals in this game were scored in the first period and the Stars got it started at the 9:03 mark on a little break as Antoine Roussel chipped a pass from the right wing to the slot where MacDermid was behind the defense for his second of the year.
Just 18 seconds later, the Ducks tied the game as David Steckel's sent a short pass from the left of the net to the low left circle where Cogliano chipped it home.
The Stars, though, took the lead back while shorthanded as Nystrom caught up to the puck in the Anaheim zone and was able to put the puck behind Fasth, who was all the way out at the left circle in an attempt to get to the puck first.
Chiasson got his first NHL goal with 47.3 seconds left when Cam Fowler faked the shot and passed it to the slot from the left wing and Chiasson tapped it in.
The goaltenders took over from there as Lehtonen made 19 saves to preserve the win, while Fasth needed to stop just nine shots to keep his team in the game.
