Party for the Planet at the Zoo

What: The Sacramento Zoo is throwing a party for the planet. At Earth Fest, visitors will learn from environmental, wildlife and conservation organizations how to protect and preserve the earth. And they'll explore animal bio-artifacts and activities in the Discovery Room. Visitors can also get face-to-face with the outreach animals and listen to keepers present enrichment talks.

What: Pit bull owners can get free vaccines, identification microchips and vouchers for dog training and spay-and-neuter surgeries at three "Celebrate Your Pit Bull" events.

Honoring Cesar Chavez

What: The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement is holding its 13th annual march to honor Cesar Chavez, the late farm labor leader. The event includes speakers, food and dancing. Chavez, who died in 1993, was born March 31, 1927.

What: Assemblyman Ken Cooley will meet constituents during an open house at his district office to offer help or discuss issues. To honor the late Butch Gardner, a prominent figure in numerous Sacramento-area car clubs and automotive events, the California Automobile Museum is offering an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner, provided by Sacramento's Taste of Tuscany. Live music will be provided.
