Cloudy skies will dominate the weekend in Sacramento, but that should give way to sunny skies starting Monday.
Today's high is expected to be 73 degrees, with a 20 percent chance for isolated rain showers, the National Weather Service predicts.
"We're going to see a little rain," said Karl Swanberg, a forecaster with the weather service in Sacramento. "But most of it is further up north."
The Sierras are expected to experience a slush of rain and snow, with snow falling at 7,000 feet today and 7,500 feet Sunday.
By the start of the work week, clouds should be gone in Sacramento.
"We're looking dry here for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and through Friday," Swanberg said. "It's going to be quite warm."
