  • STONES ALTAMONT
Altamont, Dec. 8, 1969. The festival was billed as a West Coast Woodstock, a huge free concert featuring Santana, the Grateful Dead, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and headlined by The Rolling Stones. Instead, the gathering turned into one of the most violent days in the history of rock 'n' roll, including four deaths.

Here are some rules of the road:

• Keep your comments civil. Don't insult one another or the subjects of our articles. If you think a comment violates our guidelines click the "Report Abuse" link to notify the moderators. Responding to the comment will only encourage bad behavior.
