U.S. Forest Service fuels management crews will conduct prescribed fire operations in the Cold Creek area near South Lake Tahoe beginning Monday.

Crews expect to burn about two acres per day throughout the week, weather permitting.

Residents and visitors can expect to see smoke from the prescribed fire project area, Lisa Herron, a Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit spokeswoman, said in a news release.

While the Forest Service strives to minimize impacts on communities, smoke-sensitive residents should consider staying indoors and keeping doors, windows and outside vents closed, Herron said.
