With the bases loaded for Texas State (12-19, 5-4) and one out in the ninth, Hornets second baseman Andrew Ayers made an over-the-shoulder catch in shallow right field. The runner at third tagged up and tried to score, but Ayers threw him out. Chris Lewis drove in Sac State's run with a first-inning single.
Michael Lorenzen hit a three-run homer, leading No. 4 Cal State Fullerton (28-4, 6-0 Big West Conference) to a 5-2 victory over host UC Davis (10-19, 0-6), UCD reported.
