Re "Yosemite expansion faces hurdle" (California Focus, April 7): I have always wondered if Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Elk Grove, knows the word "yes". Once again, he has proven my suspicions to be true.
A bill sponsored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Jim Costa would authorize purchase of 1,600 acres for an addition to Yosemite National Park. Newly added to his district, McClintock has objections that are mainly directed to the size of the federal gtovernment.
This bill would authorize the first expansion for the park in more than 85 years. It has been discussed for some time before McClintock arrived on the scene and has bipartisan support.
The expansion of a national treasure should not be scuttled by one man's beliefs.
