Re "Southern editor inspired and left his mark" (Forum, April 7): Thank you to former Bee executive editor Gregory Favre for exposing Bee readers to what honest journalism should encompass in his inspiring remembrance of Pulitzer Prize-winning editor Gene Patterson.
Favre's "final thoughts on journalism" should be posted in the editorial boardroom at The Bee: "Be truthful; if it hurts, just say ow. Be ethical; if it feels wrong, it is. Be fair; let all speak. Be skeptical; ask what's missing here? Be above conflict; if in doubt, don't. Be easy in the going; clasp the comical, and dance it around the floor."
Unfortunately for Bee subscribers, the current leftist make-up of the editorial board will never live up to the high standard of Patterson's "final thoughts on journalism" because that requires truth searchers, not the agenda fullfillers they have proven to be.
