The Tilted Kilt restaurant franchise, a Celtic-style pub with female servers in short kilts, has announced plans to expand operations into Sacramento.
Tilted Kilt has 80 restaurants in Canada and the United States, including several in Southern California. NoCal Tilt Holdings has signed a 10-store deal with Tilted Kilt franchising to develop the theme restaurants in Fresno, Sacramento and the Silicon Valley-East Bay areas over the next five years.
The company is scouting sites for the first location, scheduled for a 2014 opening.
Sacramento has its share of home-grown pub-style restaurants, including the Bonn Lair, Streets of London and de Vere's Irish Pub. The Tilted Kilt restaurants are part of a franchise that features menu items such as "Maggie Mae Fish and Chips" and "Danny Boy's Shepherd's Pie."
The signature selling point, according to a press release, is employing female waitresses who dress in plaid kilts and matching bra tops.
"Northern California has been longing for a Celtic-style pub like the Tilted Kilt," said the company's CEO David Kaufman. The company's website is http://www.tiltedkilt.com/.
