UC Davis rode the wind for three home runs and outlasted visiting Saint Mary's 16-15 in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday, UCD reported.

The Aggies (11-19) entered the game with three homers this season, but they capitalized on the wind blowing from right to left field at Dobbins Stadium and ended a seven-game losing streak. The Gaels (11-22) hit two homers and outhit the Aggies 17-16.

"You know going into a windy day like today, it's going to get ugly," UCD coach Matt Vaughn said. "Basically, five flyouts went out of the park today."

Trailing 14-10, the Aggies scored six runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by Paul Politi's three-run homer and Nick Lynch's leadoff homer.

UCD's John Williams hit a three-run homer and had a career-high six RBIs.

• Host Sacramento State (19-14) recorded a second consecutive shutout victory for the first time since joining Division I in 1991, defeating Simpson 7-0, Sac State reported.

Starter Zach Morgan, Garrett Kraemer and Hunter Greenwood teamed on a seven-hitter, and David Del Grande had a career-high four RBIs against the Red Hawks (3-31).
