Berkeley-based Grocery Outlet plans to open a new store in the Greenhaven area of Sacramento by September.
The discount grocery chain, which has more than a dozen stores in the Sacramento area, will remodel and upgrade a 23,000-square-foot site at 6419 Riverside Blvd., where Riverside intersects Florin Road. The site was vacated by Nugget Market years ago.
Started in 1946, Grocery Outlet now includes more than 185 independently operated stores in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Idaho and Pennsylvania.
Vern Park of Sierra Pacific Retail Group in Sacramento said Grocery Outlet signed a lease deal for the Riverside Boulevard site.
