Today is expected to be warm with afternoon breezes stirring and lasting through the weekend in advance of higher winds early in the work week.
The National Weather Service is predicting a high of 78 for today and 73 for Sunday, and relatively light winds from 5 to 11 mph today and Sunday.
Clouds, possible rain and heavy wind are expected to follow.
"Things are pretty good," said Robert Baruffaldi, a NWS forecaster in Sacramento. "It'll be nice spring days for the weekend. Monday is when we get the change."
On Monday, a weather system is expected to rattle the region, bringing isolated showers and high winds. Gusts from 20 to 30 mph will swell into the 40- to 45 mph range on Tuesday.
"The winds will be really picking up," Baruffaldi said, warning of possible downed tree limbs and power lines.
Warm, calm conditions will return midweek, forecasters say.
