Re "These organizations are backed by moneyed interest, Republican operatives and out of state Wall Street billionaires dedicated to school privatization and trampling on teacher and worker rights" (Worth Repeating, April 16): I would like to remind California Teachers Association president Dean Vogel that the CTA is one of the most politically and financially powerful "moneyed interests" in California.
Further, thanks to the lack of support by the CTA in education reform, California has been and continues to remain at the bottom of the education ladder nationally.
Education overhaul in the way of teacher evaluations, tenure and seniority must happen. The CTA must recognize it is the people of California who want educational reform not special interests, Republicans and billionaires.
The CTA needs to become part of the solution and stop being the problem. No wonder national public approval ratings of unions are at an all time low of 48 percent.
