The Sacramento Zoo has been accredited again by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums independent accrediting commission.

The Maryland-based association said the Sacramento Zoo went through a review to be sure it meets standards for animal care, veterinary programs, conservation, education and safety.

The AZA requires zoos and aquariums to complete the accreditation procedure every five years to be members of the association.

The accreditation process includes a detailed application and an on-site inspection.
