The Sacramento area's office vacancy rate decreased slightly to 23.3 percent in this year's first quarter, according to commercial real estate brokerage firm Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank.
The region's 2012 third- and fourth-quarter rates were locked in at 23.44 percent.
John Frisch, regional managing director of Cornish & Carey, noted that this year's first quarter saw "one of the better leasing performances since 2008."
The firm said the net gain in occupied space in the region totaled 116,000 square feet in the quarter, aided significantly by Sutter Health's occupancy of 294,000 square feet at 9100 Foothills Blvd. in Roseville.
The vacancy rate dropped in Roseville, Elk Grove and the west end of the Highway 50 corridor segments during the quarter.
