Strong northerly winds jumped up overnight across the Sacramento Valley after a dry weather system moved southward.
The strong winds are expected to continue into the early afternoon, although gusts won't be as strong as the blustery conditions experienced earlier this month. Look for gusts at around 25 mph today in the Sacramento region.
While winds have increased, high temperatures are expected to cooler today - at least a few degrees. Today's high is expected to be 84 degrees in Sacramento.
On Monday, the temperature reached an unseasonably warm 89 degrees - 15 degrees above normal. The record for April 22 is 94 degrees, a mark set in 2009.
