The Sacramento-based Speciality Wine Retailers Association has changed its name to the National Association of Wine Retailers.
Officials said the change reflects an expansion of the trade association's areas of interest and focus.
NAWR continues to advocate for the rights of retailers to ship wine directly to consumers, but it has expanded its advocacy interests to third party marketing, primary source laws, national wine-shipment issues and other regulations.
"NAWR remains intent on forcing the issue of free, fair and nondiscriminatory direct shipping via the courthouse and the statehouse, but is also expanding to assert retailers' interest in a host of other areas," said Tom Wark, NAWR's executive director.
The name change includes a new website: www.nawr.org.
